Carson Peters
To say all children are resilient may be an understatement in Carson’s case. Carson, 8, of Barnhart, had double knee surgery two years ago and everyone was impressed how he handled his recovery. Within a month of surgery, this active little boy was running, jumping and pedaling – all things he could not do prior to the surgery.
“He’s a joy to work with and his spunk and outgoing nature are an inspiration to all who know him,” said Melissa Meyer, his Department of Mental Health service coordinator.
Carson does well in school and plays T-ball and soccer through St. Joseph’s CYC League. He also plays basketball through TASK Sports.
The Peters’ family actively raises funds for Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis. Due to their past successful events Carson has been able to throw out the first pitch at Walk in the Park Day with the St. Louis Cardinals and the following year he got to take the field at Busch Stadium as the starting shortstop. He is the son of Kelly and Kevin Peters.
