Colton suffered a traumatic brain injury during birth and has faced many obstacles throughout his life. After being flown to Children’s Hospital when he was born and he was stabilized, the doctors told his parents that he may never walk or talk. His parents never gave up on him and instilled a fight in Colton that makes him who he is today.
Colton had physical, occupational and speech therapy at home and at the school and at age of five, Colton decided to try playing sports.Despite running with a limp and use of only one arm, Colton never gave up. Sports taught him rules and boundaries.
Colton continued to struggle socially and mentally but he was blessed to have wonderful caring teachers and extended family that looked past them. As the challenges were plentiful, they allowed for learning and growing opportunities.
His favorite things are his family, the St. Louis Cardinals and weather. He sees happiness in his brother and with his teammates when they find success. His smile is contagious, and he spreads it with anyone that will talk to him.
Colton is now a Junior in high school and has a 3.2 GPA. He completes his homework each night and continues to play baseball and football.He has his driver’s license and got his first job last summer. His goal is to go to Florida Atlantic University or The University of Central Florida and complete a certification to find a job in the weather.
Colton never lets anything stand in his way of achieving happiness.
