Gavin Jones

Gavin-JonesGavin is a 9-year-old boy from Wentzville who is a travel team superstar in baseball and works at his sport year round. This third grader from Boone Trail Elementary School lives for sports. He was the youngest to receive a first-degree black belt at 6 years of age. He has also played soccer, basketball and wants to try football and wrestling.

Gavin was born without most of his right hand. This congenital abnormality is called symbrachydactyly and there is no known cause. His parents Emily and Scott Jones say that from the moment Gavin was born he wasn’t treated differently than any other child.

”We never looked at him as having a disability, so he didn’t look at it in that way either,” Scott said. And it shows in his determination.

Gavin’s NubAbility coach reports that he collects donations for muscular dystrophy with the Wentzville Fire Department and volunteers with his baseball team to raise money for the Responder Rescue Organization.
