Jaxon Menner
Jaxon was diagnosed with leukemia on July 8, 2013, a date that is forever etched in the minds of his parents, Ryan and Danielle Menner. At 2 ½ years of age, his diagnosis was Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) which is the most common type of cancer in children. It affects certain cells in the immune system of children, most commonly the B cells.
The onset of what would be a common fever in an otherwise healthy child can bring on a potentially serious result and is more distressing to Jaxon’s parents than one can imagine. He has been hospitalized many times for fevers, viruses and infections. Yet this gentle giant of a 6-year-old rarely complains about missing out on activities.
Jaxon recently rang the bell in celebration of his last chemotherapy treatment. This Arnold boy is very happy to be “done with his medicine,” says his mom.
Monthly trips to the hospital for blood work and an antibiotic to enhance his immune system will continue. Everyone in Jaxon’s life is excited to see him restart his young life as a healthy and normal, albeit very special, young man.
