Joseph “Broc” Love
Broc is a hard-working 10-year-old with great determination. This is what makes it possible for him to attend the fifth grade at his local public school, Forder Elementary School in the Mehlville School District.
Broc’s mom, Tamico Love, had a normal pregnancy and when she went to deliver her son, the baby was breech. This miraculous time became a scary one for Tamico as her baby was then flown to Cardinal Glennon Children’s’ Hospital. After two months in the neonatal intensive care unit, Broc went home.
He has multiple congenital anomalies, an intellectual disability and is nonverbal and non-ambulatory. Tasks such as sitting, grasping, pointing and standing with assistance took a long time to accomplish. Broc has learned to use his communication device to speak which has alleviated a lot of his frustrations. He has learned modified sign language and to walk with assistance.
Broc is a popular kid at school and participates in PE, art and music class.
“We want to thank his amazing teachers who have modified the cur-riculum for him,” Tamico said.
