Maxwell Dunn, a 12-year-old who attends Ridgewood Middle School in the Fox School District, is well-known for his creativity and outgoing personality. Diagnosed at birth with cystic fibrosis and a damaged GI tract, Maxwell has grown up with his diagnosis at the back of his mind and fun at the front. Even though he spends a lot of his time taking care of his health by taking his medications multiple times per day and doing the “vest” which administers his physical therapy one to three times per day, Maxwell is still able to find time to do the things he loves, such as soccer and cross country
Maxwell loves school, both the academic and social aspects of it. Not only does he take all advanced classes, but he was also selected to be on the Character Council for his school, which is the student leadership team. He helps design “Leader in Me” activities for the student body. He was also recently chosen to be a middle school ambassador and was selected to read a paper that he wrote about Veteran’s Day to his entire school and the veteran attendees. Maxwell’s outgoing personality and kindness certainly shines through when he is able to do things that help make a difference at school.
While Maxwell suffers from chronic GI issues which often require hospitalization, he has maintained his silly and loving attitude throughout. Maxwell is polite, respectful, and extremely outgoing. He has never met a stranger and will go out of his way to make another person feel better.
