Peyton Wuenneberg
While on spring vacation with her parents, Steve and Kelly, and her sister Taylor, 9-year-old Peyton began to first show symptoms that worried her parents. After a month of consultations and hospital visits, she was diagnosed with Pre-B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. But after four long weeks of inpatient treatments at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, she was in remission.
Now 11, Peyton continues with daily chemo medications plus monthly check-ups and treatments but she gets to be an active sixth grader at Ascension Catholic School in Chesterfield. She is in Student Council, choir, Performing Arts Club, speech team and Girl Scout Troop 2924. Outside of school, she plays ice hockey for the St. Louis Lady Cyclones and is an active member of American Dance Troupe and Arch City Theater Troupe. Her favorite role was playing Violet Beauregarde in Willy Wonka because she got to blow up into a blueberry while singing.
Peyton looks forward to being able to ring the “end of chemo” bell coming up this year on July 3.
